The Top Choices Include the State's Highest Mountain, the State's First Park, and One of the State's Largest Parks.

Tishomingo State Park

The 1530-acre Tishomingo State Park is situated in the northeast corner of the state at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The park contains rock formations dating to the Devonian and Mississippian epochs of the Paleozoic era. This is the only location that these two formations are found in the State of Mississippi. Archaeological excavations confirm the presence of Paleo Indians in the area now encompassed by the park as early as 7000 BC.

Percy Quin State Park

Located on Lake Tangipahoa in southern Mississippi, Percy Quin State Park features the 18-hole Quail Hollow Golf Course, an Arthur Hills designed facility that opened in November of 1996. Park offers a variety of accommodations, including group and tent camping, lodge rooms, and cabin units.

Florewood River Plantation

Florewood River Plantation is a living history park that recreates an 1850s cotton plantation. In and around the main building and many outbuildings historical interpreters describe the lifestyle of the period. Many 19th century trades and crafts are also demonstrated.
