Lake Claiborne State Park near Homer offers piney woods, rolling hills and the cool, clear waters of Lake Claiborne to inspire the outdoor enthusiast in all who visit. The wooded shoreline bordering the lake presents such an unspoiled natural setting that visitors are surprised to learn that the lake itself was created not long ago by damming Bayou D'Arbonne. For fishermen, the lake was lavishly stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill sunfish, channel catfish, black crappie, striped bass, chain pickerel, bream and white perch. The lake itself, at full reservoir level, has a surface area of 6,400 acres.

The 87 campsites have made the site a favorite of RV'ers and tent campers for years. Ten new vacation cabins, each offering accommodations for six to eight visitors, opened in January 2000 and provide even more overnight opportunities at this site just 30 minutes northwest of Ruston and I-20.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park is located 18 miles east of St. Martinville, at the edge of Louisiana's largest watery wilderness, the Atchafalaya Basin. The park offers 18 waterfront vacation cabins, 50 improved campsites, a canoe trail with primitive campsites, hiking, boat launch, picnic area, a camp store and fishing opportunities. The 6,000-acre site is situated in an area that was once home to the Chitimacha Indians. From the middle 1700s, the region was settled by a mixture of French and Acadian farmers. Only 40 minutes from Lafayette, it's a great place to start your tour of Acadiana and you can combine a visit to St. Martinville, where one of our historic sites – Longfellow-Evangeline SHS - provides a living history experience of the Acadian culture.

Tickfaw State Park opened in May of 1999 and presents nature-based educational opportunity for all ages. Raised boardwalks take you through an undisturbed wetland that changes seasonally and with the rise and fall of the Tickfaw River. The site's nature center is the best place to begin your day tour or prolonged visit. Canoeing is a popular method of exploring the river and canoes can be rented on site. Fourteen vacation cabins make it easy to spend a night in the wilderness or you can reserve any of 50 campsites and see the site from a different perspective. Only 45 minutes east of Baton Rouge, the park is located at 27225 Patterson Road, southwest of Springfield in Livingston Parish.
