3. Great Sand Dunes National Monument preserves huge dunes that rise more than 700 feet against a natural barrier -- the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. In what state would you find this park?

4. Many of the scenes of the popular television series M*A*S*H were filmed in what is now a national recreation area. Can you name it? (Hint: The entire city of Malibu is located within its boundaries.)

8. This 600,000-acre desert park in California includes more than 500 miles of dirt roads and 12 wilderness areas. It is the largest state park in the contiguous United States. It is named after Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and the Spanish name for bighorn sheep. I can't think of any other clues to give you. Can you name this park?

9. Three thousand of these animals congregate along a stretch of the Chilkat River each fall to feed on salmon at an Alaskan state park. I realize that it might be too much to ask for the name of this park, but who are these congregating creatures?

10.  The picture above is of one of the newest national parks in the system and it got its name from the tree in photograph. Can you name the tree? (Hint: It is also the title of a U2 album from 1987).

11.  For some strange reason, 3 of the 19 national scenic and historic trails established as part of our National Trail System are also part of the National Park System. One of these three is the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail. Can you name any of the three states where this trail is located? (Bonus points if you can name two or all three states.)

12. A second trail that is part of the national park system is the famous Appalachian Trail, which passes through 14 states. Can you name the states at the northern and southern termini (there's a word you don't hear every day -- but it means "end") of the trail, and for bonus points, the mountains where these termini  can be found? 

13. Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial was established as a unit of the national park system to commemorate Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry defeating an entire British squadron during the War of 1812 at a battle on which Great Lake?

Take a look at the picture to the right -- It is a national historic site and was a favorite gathering place for many prominent philosophers and artists including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Julia Ward Howe.
