Osprey nests are found mostly around rivers, streams, ponds, and other bodies of water. Like many other birds of prey that are high on the food chain, ospreys throughout the world had breeding problems during the 1950s and 1960s, which arose mainly from the then widespread use of organochlorine pesticides, especially DDT. |
