Location: Vuntut National Park is located in the northwestern corner of the Yukon Territory, 50 km by air or 190 km by river north of the community of Old Crow. Old Crow is the most northerly and most isolated community in the Yukon (175 km from the Dempster Highway). Park is bounded by Ivvavik National Park to the north and the U.S. border and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to the west. All park visitors must be aware of the inherent risks of traveling to and within Vuntut National Park of Canada. The geographic isolation of the park can compound the severity of any incident.

Description: Dedicated to wilderness preservation and the maintenance of aboriginal lifestyles, park will be developed according to conservation and preservation principles as well as the Vuntut Gwitchin's desire to share their natural and cultural heritage with others. Vuntut National Park, along with Ivvavik National Park and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge represent international efforts to protect a major northern ecosystem defined in part by the Porcupine caribou herd. This herd is one of the largest in North America numbering approximately 160,000 animals. Wildlife found within the park include muskrats, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, wolverine, marten, mink, foxes, ground squirrels, lynx, moose, muskox, songbirds and raptors.
