Size: 16 sq. km

Location: Point Pelee National Park is located 50 km southeast of Windsor on the most southern point on Canada's mainland -- a large sandspit on the north shore of Lake Erie.

Description: Point Pelee is one of Canada's smallest national parks, but still attracts nearly 400 000 visitors each year. Each spring, birders from around the world converge on Point Pelee to take part in the "Festival of Birds." The month-long festival celebrates the arrival of some of the highest concentrations of migrating songbirds found in North America. Park is also a temporary home to thousands of migrating Monarch butterflies in the fall. 

Activities
: Visitor activities include group camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, bicycling, bird watching, butterfly watching, cross-country skiing, educational programs, theater program and exhibits (at the visitor center). 

Operating Hours: Point Pelee National Park is open year round. The park shuttle (to the tip) runs from April through October. 

History
: Established in 1918.
