Size: 34 acres

Location: Yucca House National Monument is located in 15 miles south of Cortez, Colorado, off US 666.

Description: Ruins of these large prehistoric Indian pueblos are as yet unexcavated. Due to the size and extent of mounds, it is believed that, when excavated, they will prove of great archeological significance and educational interest. The name "Yucca House" was selected for the monument because the Indians of the Montezuma valley called Sleeping Ute Mountain by a name meaning yucca, due to the abundance of yucca plants growing on the mountainsides.

Activities: Self-guided walk. There are currently no visitor services.
