Size: 74 acres

Location: Weir Farm National Historic Site is located in southwestern Connecticut, between the towns of Ridgefield and Wilton; accessible via US 7 and CT 102. 

Description: Site is named in honor of J. Alden Weir (1852-1919), a leading American Impressionist painter and a founder of The Ten. After his death, the cultural heritage at Weir Farm was carried on by a second generation of artists, including his daughter Dorothy Weir Young, an artist; her husband Mahonri Mackintosh Young, a sculptor; C. Sperry Andrews, a contemporary landscape painter; and his wife Doris Andrews, also an artist. A study collection of important primary materials on the artists who lived and worked at Weir Farm is being gathered, including personal letters, sketchbooks, drawings, and major works of art.

Activities: Guided and self-guided tours, workshops, artists-in-residence programs, adult and children's art classes.

Operating Hours
: From November through April, the visitor center is open Thursday through Sunday; from May through October, the visitor center is open Wednesday through Sunday. The grounds are open from dawn until dusk, seven days a week.
