Size: 212 acres

Location: Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is located in the Hudson River Valley in Hyde Park, New York, 90 miles north of New York City and 70 miles south of Albany. Accessible via US 9. 

Description: This 54-room palatial mansion is a fine example of homes built by 19th-century millionaires. This particular home was constructed by Frederick W. Vanderbilt, a grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt.

Activities: Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the Vanderbilt Mansion and explore the gardens and grounds of the site. Historic Hyde Park also includes two other National Park Service units: The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site.

Operating Hours
: The Park is open daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. The estate grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk.

History: Designated on December 18, 1940.
