Location: Tupelo National Battlefield is located within the city limits of Tupelo, Mississippi, between US 45 and the Natchez Trace Parkway. 

Description: Here, on July 13-14, 1864, Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forrest tried to cut the railroad supplying the Union's March on Atlanta.

Activities: Visitors can view cannons, a monument, and an interpretive wayside.

History: Established as a national battlefield site on February 21, 1929; transferred from the War Department on August 10, 1933; changed to national battlefield on August 10, 1961.
