Size: 55 acres

Location: Springfield Armory National Historic Site is located in the city of Springfield, Massachusetts, accessible via I-91. 

Description: From 1794 to 1968 Springfield Armory was a center for the manufacture of U.S. military small arms and the scene of many important technological advances. The Armory Museum protects one of the world's most extensive firearm collections.

Activities: Visitors can enjoy museum exhibits, a historical film, interpretive programs, and a self-guided walking tour of historic buildings and grounds surrounding the Armory.

Operating Hours: Open from Labor Day through Memorial Day, Tuesday to Saturday; and Memorial Day through Labor Day, Tuesday to Sunday. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

History: Authorized on October 26, 1974; established on March 21, 1978.
