Size: 826 acres

Location: The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park visitor center is near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and New Napier Avenue in San Antonio, Texas.

Description: Four Spanish frontier missions (Concepción, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada), part of a colonization system that stretched across the Spanish Southwest in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, are preserved here.

Activities: Begin your visit at the park visitor center, which is located at the entrance to Mission San José. Park staff can provide orientation and you can see the park’s documentary film, Gente de Razón, which provides an overview on the history of the mission system in Texas. Rangers recommend spending 1 1/2 to 2 hours at the park visitor center and exploring the Mission San José. The other three missions, which are located about two miles apart, each can be viewed in 30-40 minutes. Park includes a six-mile hike and bike trail that runs from just south of Mission Concepción to Mission Espada, winding down along the San Antonio River through Espada Park.

Operating Hours: San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is open seven days a week from 9:00am-5:00pm.
