Location: The Roger Williams National Memorial is located in the College Hill Historic District of Providence, Rhode Island.
Description: This memorial is a landscaped urban park on the site of the founding of Providence by Roger Williams in 1636. Williams guaranteed religious freedom to all faiths.
Activities: Start at the visitor center, where exhibits and videos interpret the many contributions Roger Williams made to the cause of religious freedom. You can also take a self-guided walk through the landscaped park, which includes the site of the fresh-water spring and common area of the first European settlement in Providence. Walking tours and ranger-led programs are also available throughout the year.Operating Hours: The Park is open daily from 9:00am to 4:30pm; closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.
History: Authorized on October 22, 1965.
