Size: 911 acres
Location: Poverty Point National Monument is located in northeastern Louisiana. From I-20, take the Delhi exit and travel north of LA 17, east on LA 134, and north on LA 577.
Description: Park commemorates a culture that thrived during the first and second millennia, BC. Today erosion and more than a century of agriculture have reduced what may have been the largest and most intricate geometrical earthwork in North America.
Activities: Park includes a museum, which offers an audio-visual presentation and numerous artifacts found on the site. Other activities include special events, programs and guided tours, including tram tours from March through October.Operating Hours: No federal facilities; managed by the State of Louisiana. State park facilities are open to the public.
History: Authorized on October 31, 1988.
