Size: 7,232 acres. 

Location: Petroglyph National Monument is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Accessible from I-40 off Unser Blvd. 

Description: More than 15,000 prehistoric and historic Native American and Hispanic petroglyphs (images carved in rock) stretch 17 miles along Albuquerque's West Mesa escarpment.

Activities: The park visitor center provides information on hiking trails, special events, and guided tours. Hiking opportunities include the Boca Negra Canyon, which features three short trails with views of approximately 200 petroglyphs; and Rinconada Canyon, a natural area with a primitive trail system offering views of more than 400 petroglyphs. 

Operating Hours: Park visitor center hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. Boca Negra Canyon and Rinconada Canyon are both open from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. Park is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.

Established on June 27, 1990. Owned and managed jointly by the National Park Service, the City of Albuquerque, and the State of New Mexico.
