Size: 6,670 acres. 

Location: Pecos National Historical Park is located 25 miles southeast of Santa Fe, New Mexico, off I-25. 

Description: Park preserves 12,000 years of human history, including the ruins of the Pecos Pueblo and many other American Indian structures, Spanish colonial missions, homesteads of the Mexican era, a section of the Santa Fe Trail, sites related to the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass, and a 20th-century ranch.

Activities: The park visitor center offers exhibits and a brief introductory film. Visitors can walk along a self-guided trail (1.25 miles) through Pecos pueblo and mission ruins. Guided tours are available to groups with advance reservations. The summer program includes weekend cultural demonstrations; the winter program features tours (reservations required) of the nearby Arrowhead Ruin, the Historic Ranch House, and Glorieta Pass Battlefield. 

Operating Hours: Ruins trail and visitor center are open daily except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Summer hours (from Memorial Day to Labor Day) are from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Winter hours (Labor Day to Memorial Day) are from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
