Size: 3,407 acres. 

Location: Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Site is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of FM 1847 (Paredes Line Road) and FM 511, 5 miles north of downtown Brownsville, Texas. 

Description: Park preserves the large battlefield on which the first battle of the 1846-1848 Mexican War took place. It portrays the battle and the war, as well as its causes and consequences, from the perspective of both the United States and Mexico.

Activities: Visitors can view exhibits on the battle of Palo Alto and the US - Mexican War and walk along the self-guided trail. Special programs are offered on an irregular basis.

Operating Hours: The park and visitor center are open from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.
