Size: 5,174 acres

Location: The Obed Wild & Scenic River is located in east-central Tennessee. From Nashville and west, take I-40 to US 127 north. From Knoxville and east, take I-40 to US 27 north. Both US 27 and US 127 run north and south and connect with TN 62 that skirts the northern edge of the area.

Description: The Obed River and its two main tributaries, Clear Creek and Daddy's Creek, cut into the Cumberland Plateau of East Tennessee, providing some of the most rugged scenery in the Southeast. Forty-five miles of streams are protected within the park, offering Class II through IV whitewater.

Activities: Camping, hiking, swimming, boating, kayaking, whitewater paddling, fishing, hunting, and rock climbing. 

Hours of Operation: Open year around for public use. The visitor center is open daily, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. 

History: Authorized on October 12, 1976.
