Location: Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is located just south of the Village of Kinderhook, New York, on NY 9H.
Description: Lindenwald was the retirement home of Martin Van Buren, 8th President of the United States, and one of the principal architects of the Democratic Party. The 36-room mansion, containing original wallpaper and furnishings, has been restored to the Van Buren period. Named for the linden trees on the estate, Lindenwald was Van Buren's home from 1841 until his death in 1862.
