Size: 141 acres. 

Location: Lowell National Historical Park is located in Lowell, Massachusetts. By car take the Lowell Connector from either Rt. 495 (Exit 35C) or Rt. 3 (Exit 30A southbound, 30B northbound) to Thorndike St. (Exit 5B) and follow signs. 

Description: The history of America's Industrial Revolution is commemorated in the heart of dowtown Lowell. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum with its operating weave room of 88 power looms, "mill girl" boardinghouses, the Suffolk Mill Turbine Exhibit, and guided tours tell the story of the transition from farm to factory, chronicle immigrant and labor history, and trace industrial technology. The park includes textile mills, worker housing, 5.6 miles of canals, and 19th-century commercial buildings. Park also host the Lowell Folk Festival, the largest free folk festival in the United States, at the end of July.

Activities: Visitors can join a park ranger for a guided tour of historic downtown Lowell using the park's trolley. Each tour highlights a different view of Lowell 's story as seen through the trolley, from canals to mill workers to ethnic neighborhoods. Reservations are required for the free 60-90 minute tour. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum walking tour includes a visit to the operating 1920s weave room plus exhibits and audio-visual programs. This tour is approximately 60-90 minutes in length. Contact the park for all program dates and times. The Tsongas Industrial History Center, a partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, offers curriculum-based education programs for grades 3-12, summer camps, as well as teacher workshops. Call for more details. 

Operating Hours: The Visitor Center is open year round. During the summer season the hours of the Visitor Center are extended. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum and Working People Exhibit hours vary by season. Call ahead for specific exhibit hours. Park is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum and the Working People Exhibit are also closed Christmas Eve (Dec. 24).
