Size: 13,633 acres. 

Location: Little River Canyon National Preserve is located in northeast Alabama, 40 miles west of Rome, accessible via AL 35 east of Fort Payne.

Description: Preserve protects Little River, the nation's longest mountaintop river, which flows for almost its entire length down the middle of Lookout Mountain. The river and canyon systems offer spectacular landscapes including upland forest, waterfalls, canyon rims and bluffs, stream riffles and pools, boulders, and sandstone cliffs.

Activities: Popular activities at the park include hiking, picnicking, wading, class III+ to a VI white water paddling, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, and photography. A day-use area, ideal for family picnics is located at Canyon Mouth Park. 

Operating Hours
:
The park is open year round. The Canyon Mouth Park Unit is a day use area.
