Description: Formed by Grand Coulee Dam (part of the Columbia River Basin Project), 130-mile-long Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake is the principal recreation feature here. Fort Spokane, situated at the confluence of the Columbia and Spokane rivers, was one of the last frontier forts built in the West (1880) and vividly illustrates changes in government policy towards Indian tribes at the turn of the century.
