Size: 2,040 acres. 

Location: Horseshoe Bend National Military Park is located in east-central Alabama, on AL 49, 12 miles north of the town of Dadeville. 

Description: On March 27, 1814, at the "horseshoe bend" in the Tallapoosa River, General Andrew Jackson's forces broke the power of the Upper Creek Indian Confederacy and opened large parts of Alabama and Georgia for settlement.

Activities: Visit the museum and watch the 20-minute film to receive an orientation to the site. Hike the Battlefield Nature Trail or drive the tour road and learn about the battle at several interpretive shelters.

Operating Hours: Visitor Center is open 9:00am to 4:30pm; Tour Road is open 8:00am to 5:00pm year round. The park is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
