Size: 710 acres
Location: 129 miles of the Great Egg Harbor River and its tributaries run through or along the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey, near the urban centers of Philadelphia, Trenton, Camden, and Wilmington.
Description: Starting as a trickle near Berlin, NJ, the Great Egg Harbor National Scenic and Recreational River gradually widens as it picks up the waters of 17 tributaries on its way to Great Egg Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean.
Activities: Canoeing, kayaking, sailboating, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and campingHistory: Authorized on October 27, 1992. The National Park Service manages the designated river in partnership with the State of New Jersey, four counties, and twelve municipalities.
