Size: 125 acres

Location: Fort Caroline National Memorial is located along the Saint Johns River, 13 miles east of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Memorial is a unit of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve

Description: Having reached the Pacific Ocean, the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped here in the winter of 1805-1806. The knowledge they acquired enroute was of immense importance to the Westward Movement. A 1955 community-built replica of the explorers' 50'x50' Fort Clatsop is the centerpiece of the park.

Activities: During the summer months the park offers interpretive programs with rangers in costume at the replica of the fort. Schedules are posted in the visitor center daily mid-June through Labor Day. Ranger-conducted programs are offered for schools October through early June.

Operating Hours: September through mid-June: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; mid-June through Labor Day: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
