Size: 133 acres

Location: Fort Caroline National Memorial is located along the Saint Johns River, 13 miles east of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Memorial is a unit of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve

Description: Two centuries of French and Spanish colonial rivalry in North America began here with the establishment of a French Huguenot settlement in 1564-1565.

Activities: Learning about the history of the St. Johns River estuary, from the time of the native Timucuans through four centuries of exploration, colonization, agriculture, and commercial exploitation is a primary activity at the park.

Operating Hours: The visitor center and grounds are open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily; closed December 25, Thanksgiving, and New Years Day.
