Size: 13 acres

Location: The Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site is near Danville, California. From San Francisco/Oakland area take I-80 to CA 24, then south on I-680 to Danville; from San Jose take I-680 north to Danville. 

Description: Tao House was built for Eugene O'Neill, who lived here from 1937 to 1944. Several of his best known plays, including "The Iceman Cometh" and "Long Day's Journey Into Night" were written here. The site is preserved as a memorial to the playwright.

Activities: To visit the park, advance reservations are required, which includes a free guided tour of Tao House. Transportation to the park is provided by a free shuttle. Private vehicles do not have access to the park due to its location. Directions to the pick-up site are given when reservations are made. Allow 2 1/2 hours to visit the park. The Western National Parks Association operates a small bookstore in the Visitor Center which is available at the end of the tour.

Operating Hours: Public visitation by reservation Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. all year. Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
