Size: 842 acres

Location: 11 miles northwest of I-85 and Gaffney, SC, and 2 miles southeast of US 221 and Chesnee, SC.

Description: Brigadier General Daniel Morgan won a decisive Revolutionary War victory here over British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton on January 17, 1781.

Activities: Visitors can tour the museum area of the Visitor Center, view the 13-minute fiber-optic map program and the 22-minute laser disk presentation on the battle, walk the 1.25 mile interpretive battlefield trail, or drive the 3.8 mile auto loop road.

Operating Hours:
Cowpens National Battlefield is open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., year round. Auto loop road and picnic area close at 4:30 p.m. The park is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.

History:
Established as national battlefield site on March 4, 1929; redesignated on April 11, 1972.
