Size: 20,534 acres
Location: In western Colorado, 12 miles from Grand Junction. From the east, take I-70 to Grand Junction, exit at Horizon Drive, and take Exit 31 to the east entrance; from the west, take I-70 to Fruita, and Exit 19 to the west entrance.
Description: Park is part of the greater Colorado Plateau, which also includes such geological wonders as the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Arches national parks. Sheer-walled canyons, towering monoliths, unusual formations, dinosaur fossils, and remains of prehistoric Indian cultures reflect the environment and history of this colorful sandstone country.

Operating
Hours: Park is open 24 hours a day. The Visitor
Center is open every day, except December 25. Visitor Center summer hours: 8
a.m. to 6 p.m. mid-June to Labor day. Winter hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
History: Established on May 24, 1911.
