Size: 9,059 acres
Location: Park encompasses portions of Georgia and Tennessee. The Chickamauga Visitor Center is located off of US 27 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center is located on East Brow Road atop Lookout Mountain, TN.
Description: A major Confederate victory on Chickamauga Creek in Georgia, September 19-20, 1863, was countered by Union victories at Orchard Knob, Lookout Mountain, and Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 23-25, 1863. This was the first and the largest national military park established by Congress at the end of the 19th century.

Operating Hours:
The Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and the
Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center are both open from 8 a.m. to 4:45
p.m. Both visitor centers are closed on December 25. It is advisable to call
the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center, 423-821-7786, for current
Cravens House tour schedule.
History: Established on August 19, 1890; transferred from War Department on August 10, 1933.
