How to Obtain a Golden Age Passport

Here's how to obtain a Golden Access Passport, which is a lifetime entrance pass to national parks for those 62 years or older.

Difficulty Level: Easy      Time Required: Less than five minutes

Here's How:
  1. Go to any National Park Service facility that charges an entrance fee.

  2. Show proof of age (must be 62 years or older).

  3. Show proof of citizenship (must be citizen or permanent resident of the United States)

  4. Bring $10 (a one-time processing fee).

  5. You will receive a Golden Age Passport. Keep in mind that the passport is non-transferable; it belongs to the person who signs it.
Tips:
  1. The Golden Age Passport admits the passholder and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle to national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas, and national wildlife refuges that charge an entrance fee. Where entry is not by private vehicle, the passport admits the pass holder, spouse, children, and parents.

  2. The pass provides a 50% discount on Federal use fees charged for facilities and services such as fees for camping, swimming, parking, boat launching, or cave tours.

  3. The pass does not cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessionaires.
