Sanctuary includes 1,658-sq. miles of protected area, 25 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara. Features 27 species of whales and dolphins and 60 species of marine birds. Cordell Bank NMS
526-sq. miles of protected area are located 60 miles northwest of San Francisco. The Bank rises to within 115 feet of the sea surface with water depths of 6,000 feet only a few miles away.
Fagatele Bay NMS
The smallest and most remote of all the NMS's, it encompasses 0.25-sq. miles of protected area, southwest shore of Tutuila Island, American Samoa, 14 degrees south of the equator. Florida Keys NMS
