Cowpens National Battlefield Site, which had originally been established as a national battlefield site in 1929 is redesignated as a national battlefield. It was here on January 17, 1781, that Daniel Morgan led his army of tough Continentals, militia and cavalry to a victory over Banastre Tarleton's force of British regulars.
