Getting to the Park:
By Air: Regular commercial flights serve Cedar City (60 miles), St. George (46 miles), Salt Lake City (320 miles), as well as Las Vegas, Nevada (158 miles). The closest airport is in St. George, UT, 46 miles from the park.
By Car: The Visitor Center at the Kolob Canyons entrance is accessible from I-15, exit 40. I-15 passes west of the Park and connects with UT-9 and 17 to the Park. US-89 passes east and connects with UT-9 to the Park. The Zion Canyon Visitor Center is a short distance from the Park's South Entrance adjacent to Springdale.
The Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel is located on the park road between the East Entrance and Zion Canyon. All buses and many recreational vehicles are too large to pass safely through the long tunnel in two-way traffic. Vehicles sized 7'10'' in width or 11'4'' in height, or larger, are required to have an ''escort'' to use the tunnel. A $10 fee per vehicle is charged for the escort service; the fee is good for two trips through the tunnel for the same vehicle during a 7-day period.
Zion Park Shuttle: Because of growing traffic, parking problems, and pollution, visitors wishing to travel the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive from April through October must now use a shuttle system. The shuttles follow two loops: one includes nine stops in Zion Canyon; the other has six stops in the town of Springdale. The loops are connected by a footbridge between the Zion Canyon Theater and the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Visitors can park in Springdale and take the shuttle to the park or park at the visitor center. The shuttle departs frequently from each stop throughout the day, and users can get on and off as often as they wish. The round trip from the visitor center lasts a minimum of 90 minutes. There is a park entrance fee, but the shuttle is free.
