Point Reyes National Seashore

Getting to the Park:

Point Reyes is located about 30 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1. Travelers may approach the park from the winding scenic Highway 1, either northbound or southbound, or via Sir Francis Drake Boulevard or Point Reyes/Petaluma Road.

The West Marin Stagecoach provides limited public transportation on weekdays to and from the San Anselmo Hub and a few other locations along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. For a full listing of bus routes and times, call 415-526-3239.

Directions from San Francisco:

  • From San Francisco, go north on Highway 101 across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Follow 101 to the Sir Francis Drake-San Anselmo exit.
  • Follow Sir Francis Drake through San Anselmo approximately 21 miles until it dead ends into Highway 1 in Olema.
  • Turn right on Highway 1 and proceed about 100 yards.
  • Take the first left turn at Bear Valley Road.
  • In less than 1/2 mile there will be a big red barn and a sign for Seashore information.
  • Turn left past the red barn and proceed to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the main park contact station.

Directions from the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area):

  • Follow Interstate 580 west over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
  • Shortly after the bridge, take the Sir Francis Drake exit and follow Sir Francis Drake for approximately 21 miles until it dead ends into Highway 1 in Olema.
  • Take a right turn on Highway 1 and proceed about 100 yards.
  • Take the first left turn at Bear Valley Road.
  • In less than 1/2 mile there will be a big red barn and a sign for seashore information.
  • Turn left past the red barn and proceed to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the main park contact station.

Directions from Sacramento:

  • Follow Highway 80 west to Vallejo.
  • From Vallejo take Highway 37 to Novato.
  • Go north on Highway 101 and take the San Marin Drive exit.
  • Follow San Marin Drive for several miles west to Novato Blvd.
  • Turn right on Novato Blvd and proceed to the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
  • Turn left and follow the Pt. Reyes-Petaluma road into the town of Point Reyes Station.
  • Turn left (south) onto Highway 1.
  • Go through the town and continue approximately 3 miles (if you get to a flashing red light, you've gone approximately 100 yards too far).
  • Turn right at Bear Valley Road.
  • In less than 1/2 mile there will be a big red barn and a sign for Seashore information.
  • Turn left past the red barn and proceed to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the main park contact station.


Directions from Petaluma:

  • From Highway 101 take the Washington Street exit.
  • Go west on Washington Street until Petaluma Blvd.
  • Turn left, proceed to D Street and turn right (D Street will become the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road).
  • Follow the Pt. Reyes-Petaluma road into the town of Point Reyes Station.
  • Turn left (south) on to Highway 1.
  • Go through the town and continue approximately 3 miles (if you get to a flashing red light, you've gone approximately 100 yards too far).
  • Turn right at Bear Valley Road.
  • In less than 1/2 mile there will be a big red barn and a sign for Seashore information.
  • Turn left past the red barn and proceed to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the main park contact station.
