North Cascades National Park

Welcome to the North Cascades National Park Travel Planner. Here you'll find everything you need to plan your North Cascades vacation, including directions, maps, photos, lodging, camping, things to do, weather, and more. The 684,313-acre North Cascades National Park Service Complex, which includes the Lake Chelan and Ross Lake national recreation areas, draws more than a half a million visitors per year. Congress has designated 93 percent of the Complex as the Stephen Mather Wilderness.

The three-park area sits deep in the wild northernmost reaches of the Cascade Range in northwestern Washington. It is flanked on the south, east, and west by national forest lands and on the north by provincial lands of British Columbia. The national forest lands feature outstanding federal wilderness areas including Glacier Peak Wilderness on the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie and Wenatchee national forests.

Lake Chelan, located in the southern part of the park complex, is a natural lake that rests in a trough carved by glaciers. At its depth of nearly 1,500 feet, it is one of the deepest lakes in the United States.

If you've ever visited the park, you'll probably agree with me that with its jagged mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, and more than 300 glaciers, North Cascades includes some of the most beautiful scenery in the United States. If you haven't, then I hope you'll enjoy a visit to the park in the near future.
