The reception center, formerly a storage area and later the Secret Service Office, offers exhibits of Eisenhower's life, from his boyhood days in Abilene, through the military and presidential years, to his retirement years at his Gettysburg farm. It includes a bookstore and a video orientation tour of the grounds and farm operation highlighting how the farm was used by Eisenhower during his presidency.
An illustrated brochure, available at the Visitor Center, provides a self-guided tour of the grounds. The farm walking tour explores the Black Angus cattle operation that President Eisenhower proudly showed off to visiting world leaders. Regularly scheduled ranger tours and Exploring Eisenhower programs are conducted seasonally. The home is decorated for Christmas in the Eisenhower tradition, December 1-31.
Children (ages 7-12)
visiting the site with their family may become Junior Secret Service Agents
by completing the activities in the Junior Secret Service Training Manual
provided at the site. New agents are awarded a badge and certificate.
Entry to the site is by shuttle bus only. Buses depart from the Gettysburg
National Military Park Visitor Center located one mile south of Gettysburg on US
Business 15 (Steinwehr Ave.). For group reservations call 717-334-4474, daily 8
