History:
Mt. McKinley National Park was originally established on Feb. 26, 1917. A separate Denali National Monument was proclaimed in 1978. Both were incorporated into and established as Denali National Park and Preserve in 1980. The Park and Preserve were designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1976.
