Canaveral National Seashore

Camping

Frontcountry camping is not available at Canaveral National Seashore. Limited backcountry camping is permitted on the beach November 1 through April 30, and on designated islands in Mosquito Lagoon all year. Most of the sites can only be reached by boat or canoe. Camping is not permitted on the refuge.

The entire length of the beach is closed to backcountry camping from May 1 to October 31 to protect the sea turtle during its nesting period. Backcountry camping permits are required. Permits are only issued on the day camping begins, for beach camping, and up to 7 days in advance for lagoon island camping. For further information, call 386-428-3384.

Visitors should be advised that Mosquito lagoon is aptly named. The best time to use these primitive campsites is during the winter months when mosquitoes are less bothersome.
