Canaveral National Seashore

Getting to the Park

Canaveral National Seashore and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge are situated midway on Florida's east coast, between Daytona Beach and Melbourne and are accessible via US1, I-95, and Route 528 (Bee Line Expressway). The Seashore comprises two districts: the North District is located 7 miles south of New Smyrna Beach on SR A1A (Exit 84A off of I-95); the South District is located 12 miles east of Titusville and is accessible via State Route 406 in Titusville (Exit 80 off of I-95). The North and South districts of the park are not connected by roadway. Access to the South Beaches, near Titusville, is closed during space shuttle operations. Visitors should call the park before going to this area near the time of a launch.

The nearest airports are the Orlando International Airport and the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville. There is no public transportation in the park. Visitors may tour the park via private vehicle, bicycle, or on foot. Horseback riding is available in designated areas but the visitor must provide their own horse and a permit is required.
