Things to Do:
Bryce Canyon National Park offers opportunities for a variety of activities depending on your personal interests. To make the most of your visit, stop at the visitor center first. There you can watch a free slide program, study the exhibits, and browse through books, maps, and other publications about the park and surrounding area.
The 18-mile main park road offers outstanding views of the park and southern Utah scenery. From many overlooks you can see more than 100 miles on clear days. Activities at the park include ranger-led walks, talks, and campfire programs from late spring through early fall. The park includes some 50 miles of hiking trails, including the 23-mile Under-the-Rim Trail that extends from Bryce Point to Rainbow Point and includes eight backcountry campsites.
In spring, summer and fall, Canyon Trail Rides wranglers lead 2-hour and half-day horse and mule rides into Bryce Amphitheater along a dedicated horse trail and the Peekaboo Loop Trail. For information, visit their web site or write or call Canyon Trail Rides, P.O. Box 128, Tropic, UT 84776, 435-679-8665 or 435-834-5500.
Bryce Canyon National Park also offers astronomy programs to take advantage of the area's famous dark skies.
