Grand Portage National Monument
This 9-mile portage was a vital link on one of the main routes for Indians, explorers, missionaries, and fur traders heading for the Northwest.

Mississippi National River and Recreation Area
For 72 miles, from Dayton to Hastings, Minnesota, the Mississippi flows through a variety of landscapes, including cultural, historical, and industrial features.

Pipestone National Monument
From this quarry American Indians obtained materials (catlinite) for making pipes used in ceremonies.

Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway
The 252-mile stretch of the Saint Croix and Namekagon rivers was one of the initial riverways designated under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968.

Voyageurs National Park
One of the few water-dominated parks in the NPS system, it features a variety of islands, coves, and bays scattered within more than 30 lakes.
