A hot air balloon arises over Gettysburg National Military Park, PennsylvaniaIn honor of Veteran's Day, no entrance fees will be charged to visitors on November 11th. Over 100 parks that normally charge fees for entrance by car, foot, or bicycle will be completely free to enter. Other amenities, such as camp sites, backcountry passes, and concessions are not included.

The National Parks service occasionally waives the fees to enter their parks for special occasions. In addition to Veteran's Day, parks are free to enter during National Parks Week in April and National Public Lands Day in September. Veteran's Day will be the last day in 2010 that parks will be free to enter. However, many national parks never charge admission, which make them great for low-cost family vacations.
