© Paraflyer via FlickrStill looking for a cool summer vacation spot. Lassen Volcanic National Park may just be your ticket. After an eight-month winter closure, Lassen's Main Park Highway opens today. Five of the park's eight major campgrounds are now operating, and the other three are expected to close this month.
Lassen is popular for its volcanic past and its eruptions from 1914 through 1918. It's an exciting place to visit and see volcanic peaks and geothermal areas. It also provides a fantastic venue for day hikes, including a beautiful section of the Pacific Crest Trail.
