Last month, I mentioned that Ted Turner was criticized to take 74 wild bison from Yellowstone National Park. Today, state wildlife officials say that the bison will indeed move to Turner's ranch in Montana.
The animals have been in disease quarantine just outside Yellowstone and part of a 5-year program to help prevent the spread of the disease brucellosis to cattle. An agreement was made stating that 88 bison will move and Turner will care for the them for 5 years. After 5 years, Turner will return to the bison and 25 percent of their offspring to the state. He will be allowed to keep 75 percent of the offspring in exchange for caring for the herd.
